Three case studies on STAR-CCM+
cDynamics is a small consultancy company with with employees. We work with specialized projects within general numerical analysis, CFD and FEA, mostly directed towards marine, offshore and aquaculture industry. We higly depend on STAR-CCM+® which can take us smoothly and efficient from a first meeting with our customer, touching CAD and to simulated results. All must be done with a high demand on quality and reliability on the results. 
Several projects the last year have shown us that STAR-CCM+ can deliver reliable results to highly demanding problems:
1) Surface effect ship simulations with included lift forces from an air cushion coupled with lift fans (pressure vs flow characterics) and with  boarding control system used when the vessel enters a wind mill. The vessel is built, and the CFD simulations are validated with ship model tests as well as full scale tests.
2) Sphere impact on free surface with hydrophobic flow (cavity formation and collapse), validation and comparison with experiments. Use of a range of CFD settings: dynamic contact angle, turbulent/laminar BL.
3) Ejector design coupled with pump characteristics. The ejector is built and under operation.
