Effects of meshing strategies on in-cylinder flows

The presentation shows the impact of different meshing strategies on the simulation of the in-cylinder flow structure of the Transparent Combustion Chamber (TCC) engine. Large Eddy Simulation of several consecutive engine cycles are compared to experimental measurements, and the impact of the adopted meshing trategy on both accuracy and computational efficiency is evaluated.

An improved spark ignition model for LES

The presentation demonstrates the modeling capabilities of the newly implemented ISSIM-LES ignition model to correctly capture early flame variability in a production high performance engine. Results are compared to more traditional models.
