Improving fan efficiency with design exploration

Turbomachinery forms an essential part of many mechanical equipment systems and accounts for a significant portion of global industrial energy usage. Not surprisingly then, engineers are constantly searching for innovative ways to increase the efficiency of these power transmission devices.

This presentation illustrates a new and completely automated workflow for discovering better turbomachinery designs faster through the combined use of three best-in-class engineering design & simulation software products: TURBOdesign 1 (TD1) STAR-CCM+ and HEEDS.

Design exploration of a DLN Hydrogen combustor

Development and automated design exploration of a novel Dry Low NOx Hydrogen combustion technology for gas turbine applications

Efficient air pass setup for local ventilation

This work is part of the MinMax-Ventilation project, which is government-founded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). The project goal is a reduction of ventilation energy demand (minimized energy demand) while maintaining high thermal comfort and air quality for partly occupied venues (maximized ventilation effectiveness).
